Queer-owned Marda Loop coffee shop and bookstore corner, operating over 30 years
Bell's Cafe is a queer-owned, family-operated coffee shop and community space located in Calgary's Marda Loop neighborhood. In operation for over 30 years, the venue serves a menu of specialty espresso drinks—such as honey oat lattes and raspberry mochas—alongside house-baked scones, muffins, sandwiches, and an all-day breakfast selection. The interior features a dedicated bookstore corner complete with a take-a-book-leave-a-book shelf and table board games. The cafe collaborates with local LGBTQ+ organizations including Skipping Stone and Pansy Club to host community book clubs, poetry workshops, and art displays. Operating hours are 7:30am to 4pm on weekdays, and 8am to 4pm on weekends.
