Calgary, Alberta
Alberta craft-only pub in a 1911 Victoria Park home with a sunflower garden patio
Neighborhood pub in Victoria Park housed in a 1911 Calgary home, with a hand-planted sunflower garden out front, local art on the walls, and two patios. Civic Tavern pours exclusively Alberta craft beer and makes its food from scratch — pizza, nachos, comfort plates using local ingredients. Pool table and foosball upstairs. Took over the space in 2018 from the Hop in Brew, which ran for 24 years at the same address. The atmosphere reads more like a friend's house party than a typical bar. Gay Friendly but not an explicitly queer venue — it hosts community events and draws a mixed, casual crowd. Open Tuesday through Saturday.
