Jacksonville, Florida
Five Points dive bar with drag nights, karaoke, and frozen Irish coffee
Neighborhood dive bar on the Five Points strip in Riverside — Jacksonville's closest thing to a gayborhood and the site of the city's first Pride festival back in 1978. Birdies isn't a dedicated gay bar, but it leans in with a monthly Gay Night on the first Friday and a separate Jack Night for men to meet men. The rest of the week plays like a solid local hangout: Wednesday karaoke, pool tables, a photo booth, Mario Kart, and a patio that's prime for people-watching along Park Street. Drinks are strong, affordable, and straightforward — the frozen Irish coffee is available year-round. Originally opened by local artist Christy Frazier in 2009, the bar closed briefly during COVID and reopened under new ownership at the same address.
