Community queer bar in Alton, Illinois with weekend drag shows and monthly amateur nights
Small-town queer bar in Alton, Illinois, just across the Mississippi from St. Louis and worth the short drive over the river. Drag shows run every weekend, karaoke takes over Thursdays, and an amateur drag queen and king night closes out the last Wednesday of the month, with drag brunch rounding out the calendar. Its tagline — 'an open-minded place' — sets the tone: campy, judgment-free, and welcoming to whoever walks in. A group of longtime patrons took over ownership in 2025 to keep the space going, carrying on a bar that's been a chosen-family cornerstone for Alton's LGBTQ+ community for years. Unpretentious and big-hearted, it punches well above its small-town weight.
