Morgantown, Indiana
Male-only, trans-friendly members' campground in Brown County with two heated pools and a lake
Camp Buckwood is a private, male-only members' retreat on more than 48 acres in Brown County, Indiana, about 20 miles from Bloomington and an hour south of Indianapolis. Its rules describe it as male-only and trans-friendly. The owners bought the property in 2001, and 2026 was Season 23. Membership is $20 per calendar year, charged at your first check-in of the season. There is a lot of choice for a camp this size: tent sites with electric, a glamping tent, RV sites with 50/30/20-amp service and water and two dump stations, a park-model camper, cabins from a standard cabin to a vintage camper called Blanche and lakeside units, rooms in the 4 Seasons Lodge and an eight-bed bunk room. 2026 rates run from $27 per person for a tent site on a weeknight to $45 for an RV site for two, $75 and up for cabins and $160 to $249 for lodge rooms, with holiday pricing on top. Day passes run 10 AM to 9 PM at $27 midweek, $32 on weekends and $40 on holidays. Two heated pools, a hot tub and the 2.5-acre Lake Shasta anchor the grounds, with the Bucks Grill food truck on weekends, the BuckMart store, Rusty's entertainment barn, a pavilion, three shower houses, laundry, trails and the fenced Barkwood dog area. Weekends on the calendar include a chili cook-off, Halloween and the last weekend of the season, and Buckwood runs a Caribbean cruise each January. The site does not post a clothing policy or a general age minimum, so ask before you book.

We verified 32 LGBTQ+ campgrounds in the US, from 700-acre men's retreats in the Ozarks to a women-only resort in Michigan's Thumb. This guide covers every one we could verify from the campground's own website: who's welcome, what clothing optional means there, what you can sleep in, what it costs and when the season runs.

After 40 the velvet rope matters less and the pool deck matters more. Here are the six destinations that deliver, the bear weeks and cruises built for a slower pace, and where to stay in each, drawn from our venue listings and event guides.

Leather bar, bear bar, video bar, tea dance, piano bar, dive. Every type of gay bar explained: what it is, how it started, what a night looks like, and how to find one near you.

Circuit parties are the big dance weekends on the gay calendar. Here's what they are, where the name came from, what actually happens, what to wear, and which one to pick first.

The practical first-timer's guide to drag: what people actually wear, how much cash to bring, how to hand a tip to a queen without making it weird, and what the room expects of you.

A gay bar is a bar. Here's what actually happens on a normal night, why walking in alone is easier than you think, and how to pick the right one for your first time.
