One of Northern California's largest gay dance clubs.
Open since 1985, Faces is the anchor of Sacramento's queer nightlife and one of the largest gay clubs in Northern California. Founder Terry Sidie built it into a Midtown institution near 20th and K, and a major 2007 expansion turned it into a genuine complex: three dance floors each running a different sound, from hip-hop to house, plus more than a dozen bar stations, an outdoor pool ringed by balconies, and VIP areas. It's the kind of place where you can move from a packed main floor to a quieter patio drink without leaving the building. The programming is what keeps it central to the scene: weekly drag shows (the Ho Show drag revue among them, with touring Drag Race performers passing through), karaoke, RuPaul's Drag Race watch parties, and themed weekend parties. The crowd is mixed and high-energy, skewing young on weekends when the line forms early. After four decades it remains the default meet-everyone-here club in the Lavender Heights district, and an easy night to build a weekend around if you're new to town.
