Part of the Gay Raleigh Guide — bars, events & things to do.
Raleigh, North Carolina
Self-described 'gay/straight/whatever' bar with karaoke, drag, leather, and bear nights.
Flex bills itself as Raleigh's "neighborhood gay/straight/whatever bar and club," and that unfussy framing is the whole appeal: a downtown spot on West Hargett Street where the door is open to queer regulars and straight allies alike. The weekly calendar keeps things moving with free karaoke on weeknights and Sundays, drag shows, country and line dancing, and themed nights that run from leather and fetish to bear events. Inside, a roomy dance floor anchors a space that leans more lived-in dive than polished club, which is exactly why locals keep it in rotation. It draws from across the Triangle and pairs naturally with a downtown crawl, with Legends a few blocks east on the same street. Come for a low-key weeknight karaoke session or a themed weekend; either way it's the kind of bar where you end up talking to the people next to you.
