It's compact, which is the point, the kind of room that feels full and friendly rather than cavernous. The crowd is mostly gay men, young and sociable, and it gets genuinely packed on weekends. Locals treat it as a starting point for the night, a place to warm up before drifting to the other bars a few doors away, but the basement is reason enough to stay put. For a first taste of the Marais nightlife without a cover or a velvet rope, this is an easy door to walk through.
