Queer-owned worker co-op cafe serving fair-trade coffee on Spring Garden Road.
A queer-owned worker cooperative on Spring Garden Road, founded in 2018 by former Smiling Goat baristas who pooled resources after their union shop closed. The ~14-member collective is majority queer and queer people of color, with flat management — everyone shares ownership. The cafe occupies a Victorian house with vintage fireplaces and wood floors, sharing the building with HasBin, a queer-owned consignment shop. They pour Just Us! fair-trade coffee, serve local pastries, and run a "gem" program — a pay-it-forward system offering free drinks and food to anyone who needs one. Community events include poetry readings, trivia, and sliding-scale space rentals.
