Part of the Gay Madrid Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Madrid, Spain
Spain's first bear bar — on Infantas in Chueca since 1996.
A Chueca institution since 1996, this was Spain's first bear bar and it's still pulling crowds decades later. The space is designed to feel like a mountain refuge—exposed brick, wood paneling, hunting lodge touches—which somehow works perfectly for the vibe. DJs spin everything from jazz and bossa nova early in the evening to house and pop-rock as the night builds. The bar sprawls across two levels, with a cruisey basement dark room that serves its purpose without pretense. The crowd skews bear, daddy, and chaser, with plenty of muscle bears, otters, and hirsute locals mixed in. It gets packed on weekends, sometimes with a line outside, but the energy inside stays warm and unpretentious. Staff are known for being genuinely friendly, and happy hour runs all week with 2-for-1 drinks until midnight. It's the kind of place where regulars have been coming for years, but visitors fit right in.
