Part of the Gay London Guide — bars, events & things to do.

London, London
Multi-floor LGBTQ+ bar near Leicester Square with a dance floor below.
Ku Bar's Lisle Street flagship sits moments from Leicester Square on the edge of Chinatown, spread across three floors that make it one of the largest gay venues in central London. The street-level bar is bright and busy, there's a champagne bar in the mix, and the low-lit basement — KU Klub — runs DJs and a dance floor most nights. The Ku name dates to 1999; this branch moved here from Charing Cross Road in 2007. The crowd is young, mixed and steady, equal parts locals and visitors funnelling in from the West End. It reads more polished and pre-club than dive-y — a reliable early-evening anchor that rolls straight into late dancing without changing venues. Ku is part of the same stable as She Soho, the lesbian bar a short walk away on Old Compton Street, both run by Gary Henshaw. With Rupert Street, The Yard and Freedom all close by, it's a natural pivot point for a Soho crawl.
