Madrid, Spain
Bohemian cocktail bar on Plaza de Chueca with a sun-drenched terrace.
La Bohemia holds a prime spot right on Plaza de Chueca, with one of the square's bigger terraces for watching the neighborhood go by over a drink. It's a relaxed cocktail bar, with classic cocktails, house specials, and local wines, that bills itself simply as 'un bar libre,' an open, easygoing place rather than a scene. It's known as one of Chueca's more women- and lesbian-friendly bars, though the welcome is genuinely mixed and everyone's at home here. The crowd is eclectic and neighborhood-leaning, the kind that settles in for the evening rather than rushing a quick round. For a daytime square-side drink or an unhurried start to the night, it's one of the most comfortable seats in Chueca.
