The Mari Jean is an adults-only, gay-focused hotel in a restored 1926 building that anchors St. Pete's Grand Central District. Concept operator David Fischer built it into the hub of his Central Avenue cluster, with lime-green accents throughout. The name revives the building’s own past — it opened as the "Mari-Jean Hotel" in the 1920s, a name still documented in a 1933 State Archives of Florida photograph. The 54 rooms sit atop a run of Fischer venues you never have to leave the block for: The Wet Spot pool bar and day club, the COCKtail nightclub, a speakeasy lounge, and an on-site shop. For travelers it's the rare gay-nightlife property where the room, the dance floor, and the pool are all one address — the most self-contained way to base yourself in the district.
