Florida's gay resorts are not in one place. Fort Lauderdale and Wilton Manors hold the biggest cluster, ten gay resorts and guesthouses, most of them men-only, between the beach and the Wilton Drive bars. Key West has a smaller, older scene on Fleming and Duval Streets. Miami Beach, St. Petersburg and Tampa each have one or two gay properties of their own, and they could hardly be more different: a sex-positive hotel on Lincoln Road, a 1920s hotel stacked on top of a nightclub and a pool day club, a six-room clothing-optional guesthouse, and an all-male compound in the North Tampa woods. This guide gives the statewide picture using what each property publishes on its own site as of October 2026, and links to our full city guides for Fort Lauderdale and Key West, where every resort is covered property by property.

Florida's Gay Resorts at a Glance

  • Fort Lauderdale and Wilton Manors: ten gay resorts and guesthouses, most of them men-only and clothing-optional, including the 96-room Grand Resort and Worthington complex and Pineapple Point
  • Key West: four gay properties since Equator Resort closed in January 2025; Island House and New Orleans House are men's resorts with clothing-optional areas, Alexander's and La Te Da are adults-only and open to everyone
  • Miami Beach: Hotel Gaythering on Lincoln Road, which calls itself Miami's only gay hotel
  • St. Petersburg: the Mari Jean, an adults-only hotel above the COCKtail nightclub and the Wet Spot pool club (not clothing-optional), and Casa del Merman, a six-room clothing-optional bed and breakfast
  • Tampa: Casa Puente, an all-male, clothing-optional guesthouse on wooded acreage in North Tampa
  • Gay campgrounds: Sawmill in Dade City and Camp Mars in Venus are membership campgrounds with their own pools and calendars

Pro Tip

At these resorts, clothing-optional means inside the property walls, not on the public beaches nearby such as Sebastian Street in Fort Lauderdale. In South Florida, the clothing-optional beach that both Hotel Gaythering and The Big Coconut point guests to is Haulover in Miami-Dade.

Fort Lauderdale and Wilton Manors

Fort Lauderdale has the deepest bench in the state. On the beach side, The Grand Resort and Spa and The Worthington form one all-male, 21-and-up complex on N Birch Road with 96 rooms, two blocks from the ocean. Pineapple Point in Victoria Park publishes a full seasonal rate table from $315 to $845 a night, with holidays higher, and sells $40 day passes. The Big Coconut off Sunrise Boulevard runs $159 to $299, or $139 for the Little Coconut efficiency across the street, and Inn Leather near the port is the leather resort, studios from $140. Coral Reef Guesthouse, north of Sunrise Boulevard, is adults-only (25 and up) rather than men-only. In Wilton Manors, Cabanas, Ed Lugo, Calypso Inn and Inn On The Drive are small guesthouses within walking distance of the Wilton Drive bars, clothing-optional per their sites or, for Calypso and Inn On The Drive, per our venue listing. Ed Lugo describes itself as adults-only rather than men-only, and Inn On The Drive is adults-only per our venue listing.

Pick Fort Lauderdale if you want a choice of men's resorts at different prices, day passes to try them, and a gay bar strip you can walk to. The full breakdown, with every policy and price, is in our Gay Resorts in Fort Lauderdale guide.

Key West

Key West's gay guesthouses are older and fewer. Island House on Fleming Street calls itself a clothing-optional sanctuary for gay men since 1976, with 39 rooms, a heated pool, two jacuzzis, a sauna, a steam room and a 24-hour bar; its rates run $369 to $769 a night, with no resort fee. New Orleans House is upstairs from Bourbon Street Pub on Duval, for adult men (all-welcome rooms by phone), with a clothing-optional backyard pool and the Garden Bar. Island House also takes non-male guests, in units off its clothing-optional side. Across Fleming from Island House, Alexander's is adults-only and says everyone is welcome, and La Te Da on Duval is the 21-and-up hotel with a cabaret, the Sunday Tea Dance per our venue listing, and no clothing-optional areas.

Pick Key West for a walkable island, an older guesthouse tradition and big themed weeks, and book early: four properties share well under 100 rooms. Our Gay Resorts in Key West guide has the rates, minimum stays and the Equator Resort closure.

Miami Beach: Hotel Gaythering

Hotel Gaythering (1409 Lincoln Rd, per our venue listing) calls itself Miami's only gay hotel and a gay-owned, sex-positive, adults-only haven, in a 1958 MiMo building. Room types run from Petite and Large Kings to Studio and Fun Kings, an accessible first-floor king, a room above the bar, and the Crate: a men-only, 64-square-foot partitioned pod in a shared room. The site lists a men-only wellness sauna, which our venue listing describes as part of a clothing-optional men's spa, and the ground-floor Gaythering Bar runs Karaoke Mondays, Trivia Wednesdays and Boozie Bingo Thursdays, open 5 PM to midnight most nights and until 2 AM Friday and Saturday. Rates are quoted through its booking engine, and its local guide points guests who want a clothing-optional beach to Haulover. See our Miami gay bars guide for the rest of the night.

St. Petersburg: The Mari Jean and Casa del Merman

The Mari Jean Hotel

The Mari Jean (2349 Central Ave, per our venue listing) is a gay nightlife hotel in the Grand Central District: 54 rooms above the COCKtail nightclub, The Ball lounge and The Wet Spot pool bar and day club, in a building that first welcomed guests in 1927. It is adults-only (21 and up), and its FAQ says it is not only for the LGBTQ+ community: everyone is welcome provided every guest is 21 or older. It is also not clothing-optional; the pool requires at least a swimsuit. Rooms are compact (most about 150 square feet, one bed each), a light continental breakfast is included, and day guests can use The Wet Spot without a day pass except during special events, with poolside cabanas at $200 Monday to Thursday and $300 Friday to Sunday, credited to your tab, plus a service fee (Pride and holiday pricing differs). There is no gym, sauna or spa on site. The hotel's own site lists St. Pete Winter Pride February 14 to 21, 2027 and St. Pete Pride week June 23 to 27, 2027; the main Pride weekend is expected June 25 to 27, with official dates pending.

Casa del Merman at GayStPete House

Casa del Merman (4505 5th Ave N) calls itself a laid-back, clothing-optional bed and breakfast where all orientations are welcome. Its six rooms share a clothing-optional pool area with a large heated saltwater pool, a sauna and a massage table, with a list of independent licensed therapists you book directly. Its site lists each room by a local beach name, from Treasure Island ($109 a night Monday to Thursday, $119 on weekends) to the two-queen Fort Desoto and Caladesi Island rooms with full kitchens ($149 a night Monday to Thursday, $159 on weekends), with a pay-five-stay-seven weekly rate. Continental breakfast and a beer, wine and soda happy hour are included, and it is pet friendly with off-street parking. Text or call (727) 310-4130 to book or to check holiday minimums.

Tampa: Casa Puente

Casa Puente (12703 Linda Dr) is an all-male, clothing-optional guesthouse, established in 2014 and all-male since 2020, where, in its words, the pool, outdoor areas and homes are all clothing-optional. Seven accommodations, spread across two houses, a 500-square-foot studio and a 35-foot camper, run $120 (a shared-bath room) to $165 a night plus a $30 to $45 booking fee, with a continental breakfast included. The grounds have a heated pool, hot tubs, a workout room, a massage room and nature trails. Guest passes to the pool, trails and hot tubs run daily from noon to 6 PM (call for the price), and the owners host all-male nudist evenings a couple of times a month. It books by phone or email, and the beaches of St. Pete and Clearwater are about a 40-minute drive. For the city's bars, see our Tampa gay bars guide.

Florida's Gay Campgrounds

Two membership campgrounds round out the state. Sawmill in Dade City, north of Tampa, is a 21-and-up, members-only gay and lesbian camping resort with cabins, RV and tent sites, a heated clothing-optional pool and four bars including Woody's Nightclub; a day visit costs a $15 day membership plus a $10 to $30 day pass. Camp Mars in Venus (between Sarasota and Lake Okeechobee, per our venue listing) is a private-membership RV park for gay men on 40 acres, open since 2002, with a rec hall, a pool, themed weekends, and bingo, game nights and sunset parties.

I'm Robbie, the founder of Out x Out. I'm from Minneapolis, though I'm spending 2026 building this community from the road — somewhere between South America and Asia. The idea for Out x Out came from a trip to Berlin, where the gay nightlife calendar was years ahead of ours: you could see not just where to go out, but which night to go — so naturally I wanted that kind of insider info for every city in the US (and beyond... eventually). I'm more of a behind-the-scenes type, but the whole point of this is connection: I'd take one real one over a hundred surface-level ones, and I'm trying to build that for the community, city by city.
