Amsterdam, Netherlands
One of Europe's oldest gay leather shops, on Warmoesstraat since 1975.
RoB is one of Europe's oldest gay leather houses, founded in 1975 by Rob Meijer and still trading on Warmoesstraat, the narrow lane that has been Amsterdam's leather and fetish strip since the late 1950s. Half a century on it sits among neighbors like Eagle and Dirty Dicks, and the brand is recognized well beyond the Netherlands: franchise stores have operated in Paris, Zurich, Brussels, and Berlin over the decades, though the Warmoesstraat original remains the anchor. Meijer died in 1991, but the workshop he built kept going. What sets RoB apart is that it still makes leather and rubber gear in its own on-site workshop rather than outsourcing. Stock runs from harnesses, jackets, and made-to-measure pieces to rubber, neoprene, BDSM equipment, and toys. The location puts the store in the thick of Amsterdam Leather & Fetish Pride each October, and for a traveler it's both a working shop and a piece of the scene's history you can walk into.
