Part of the Gay San Antonio Guide — bars, events & things to do.

San Antonio, Texas
Northeast Side's longtime gay dive, home of Kinky Karnival.
For more than 30 years Sparks Club has been the only gay bar in Northeast San Antonio, out on Webbles Drive near the airport and a deliberate world away from the Main Avenue strip. It's a true neighborhood dive: free pool, darts, cheap pours, and a regulars-heavy crowd that mostly knows each other. The exception is "Kinky Karnival" on the first Saturday of every month, San Antonio's main gay kink and fetish theme night, which draws a bigger leather-and-fetish crowd from across the city. The rest of the week stays low-key, with no regular drag shows, just a steady, welcoming North Side anchor for people who'd rather have a conversation than a dance floor.
