Chueca lesbian dance bar by the Franco sisters — two floors since 2004
On Calle de Regueros in Chueca, Fulanita de Tal has grown from its 2004 origins as a small lesbian bar into one of Madrid's most recognized LGBTQ+ nightlife brands. Run by the Franco sisters, this two-floor venue is loud, proud, and overwhelmingly feminine, drawing a primarily female crowd that skews younger and loves to dance. The large street-facing window lets passersby see the energy inside—house and electronica dominate the soundtrack, with resident DJs keeping the packed dance floor moving despite the limited space. While it started as a specifically lesbian venue, Fulanita has evolved to welcome everyone who comes respectfully and ready to have a good time, though the vibe remains distinctly queer women-centered. The venue has expanded beyond just being a bar, hosting live music through "Fulanita en Vivo"—an 80-person capacity performance space with excellent acoustics where 80% of acts are women, reflecting their commitment to female empowerment in music. Artists like Lola Índigo, Rozalén, and Conchita have performed here. Beyond music, they host karaoke nights, comedy shows, bingo sessions on weekends, and viewing parties for women's soccer championships. The bar also serves as a hub for major LGBTQ+ events including Pride celebrations and the Fucking Lips Festival. Open Wednesday through Sunday, with their sister venue Sala Vesta nearby offering an after-hours option for those who want to keep the party going. The group also operates gluten-free restaurants under the La Lina brand, making Fulanita part of a larger queer women-centered hospitality collective in Madrid.
