Mexico City, State of Mexico
Queer nightlife in a 1915 former cinema near Plaza Garibaldi.
Teatro Garibaldi occupies a building that dates to at least 1915 — a former silent-cinema and burlesque house on Plaza Garibaldi, in the Centro Histórico rather than the Zona Rosa. A 2019 renovation turned it into one of the city's largest LGBTQ+ nightlife complexes, with a multi-level catwalk stage and neon-lit dance floors, and it now runs three connected concepts under one roof: the main Teatro floor, the Terraza overlooking the plaza, and the Divina club (formerly Perra). The music spans circuit, techno, and reggaeton, with high-energy drag shows and go-go dancers on weekends. It's a Centro destination rather than a neighborhood bar — worth the trip out of the Zona Rosa for the scale of the production, and a different flavor of night from the smaller Londres and Niza rooms. The crowd builds late and the floor doesn't peak until the early-morning hours.
