Woody's has anchored Philadelphia's Gayborhood on 13th Street for more than forty years, named for founder Bill Wood and grown over the decades into a small empire of connected rooms. Two floors hold five distinct spaces: an open pub bar up front, a main dance floor, and themed lounges running everything from EDM and hip-hop to pop remixes and disco throwbacks. Rosewood is its Art Deco cocktail lounge for a slower drink, and Globar, the newer dance space, sits around the corner at 13th and Walnut. It's the default big night out in Philly's queer scene, the place that draws a broad cross-section of the city rather than one tight clique, and it has stayed standing through the AIDS crisis and decades of change in Center City.
