Hillcrest
University Ave, San Diego, CA 92103The San Diego Pride Dyke March 2026 kicks off the city's Pride season on Saturday, July 11, at 11 a.m., a full week ahead of the main parade weekend, with a community-centered march and celebration through the heart of Hillcrest. Centering LGBTQ+ women, nonbinary people, and the broader sapphic community, the Dyke March is equal parts protest, party, and family reunion, a grassroots tradition that traces back to the earliest days of the movement and still carries that same defiant, joyful energy. Marchers gather along University Avenue and move through Hillcrest past the neighborhood's landmark bars and restaurants, from the Pride Flag toward Gossip Grill, San Diego's beloved sapphic bar. Expect chants, handmade signs, drumlines, and a crowd that spans generations, all turning out to claim space and visibility ahead of the bigger Pride weekend to come. It is free, open to everyone who supports the cause, and welcoming to first-timers. Hillcrest is easy to reach on the MTS Rapid 215 bus from downtown, which beats hunting for parking in a packed neighborhood. Wear comfortable shoes for the walk, bring water and sunscreen for the late-morning July sun, and consider making a day of it with brunch or drinks along University Avenue afterward. If you want to experience the activist heart of San Diego Pride, the part that remembers why these celebrations exist, the Dyke March is the place to start. Mark your calendar for July 11 and come ready to march.
