The San Diego Pride Parade 2026 takes over Hillcrest on Saturday, July 18, stepping off at 10 a.m. and running until about 3 p.m. along a 1.5-mile route through the heart of the city's historic gay neighborhood. It is the largest single-day civic event in the San Diego region, drawing more than 250,000 spectators who line University Avenue and 6th Avenue to cheer on floats, marching bands, drag performers on flatbed trucks, community groups, and one of the most visible active-duty military contingents of any Pride parade in the country. The parade is free, with no ticket required, so just claim a spot on the sidewalk. The prime viewing corner is University Avenue and 6th Avenue, where floats slow for the turn and performers play to the crowd, so arrive by 8 a.m. if you want it. For more room and a mellower, family-friendly vibe, spread out along 6th Avenue as it heads south toward Balboa Park, where the parade ends near the festival grounds. Plan your morning around heavy road closures that start around 6:30 a.m. Skip driving entirely and take the MTS Rapid 215 bus from downtown, which drops you right on University Avenue, or use the free park-and-ride shuttle from the Old Naval Hospital lot. Bring water, sunscreen, and a hat, because the July sun is strong and you will be standing for hours. When the last float passes, the Pride Festival at Balboa Park is a short walk away to keep the day going.
