Missouri History Museum
5700 Lindell Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63112This St. Louis LGBTQ+ literary night returns to the Missouri History Museum on Thursday, June 11, 2026, for the fourth annual Queer Writes — an evening of selections by LGBTQ+ writers in St. Louis. Part of the museum's Thursday Nights series and its Gateway to Pride programming, it spotlights more than twenty local LGBTQ+ writers and performers in the historic Lee Auditorium, in the heart of Forest Park. The night opens around 5 p.m. with a happy hour in the museum's Grand Hall, complete with LGBTQ+ resource tables, hands-on activities, and mini history tours, before the main showcase begins in the auditorium at 6:30 p.m. and runs to about 8 p.m. Presented with That Uppity Theatre Company and the Missouri Historical Society, it's a moving, often funny, deeply local celebration of LGBTQ+ voices — readings, storytelling, and performance that connect the community's present to its history. It's a refreshingly substantive, free alternative to the bar scene, equally good for a date, a friend group, or anyone who wants their Pride with some heart and ideas. The Missouri History Museum sits at 5700 Lindell Boulevard in Forest Park, with free on-site parking and easy access via MetroLink to the Forest Park-DeBaliviere station and a short walk or bus into the park. Admission is free, so arrive early to grab a drink in the Grand Hall and a good seat for the showcase. On a St. Louis Pride 2026 calendar full of parties, Queer Writes is the thoughtful, community-rooted evening that grounds the whole month.
