Queer Women·Los Angeles Gay Guide

Are There Lesbian Bars and Safe Spaces in Los Angeles?

LA's lesbian and queer women's scene is anchored by a couple of dedicated spaces plus a strong network of recurring events and sapphic nights at mixed venues.

Dedicated Lesbian & Queer Women's Spaces

  • Honey's at Star Love (1532 N Western Ave, East Hollywood) — Lesbian-focused cocktail bar inside the Star Love speakeasy, open Thu–Sat. Karaoke, DJ nights, and themed parties spanning reggaeton to indie to pop. One of LA's only dedicated lesbian bars
  • Catch One — Historic venue founded in 1973 by Jewel Thais-Williams as one of the country's first Black-owned gay/LGBTQ+ discos. Now a live music and events venue that maintains its queer roots

Queer Women-Friendly Bars & Restaurants

  • Bar Flores (Echo Park) — Queer woman-owned Latin bar, cozy neighborhood spot that started as a pop-up
  • Semi Tropic (Echo Park) — Mixed bar known for attracting a queer and sapphic crowd

Recurring Sapphic Events

  • Damn Good Dyke Nights — Monthly rotating events including Open Dyke Night (piano bar karaoke), Hot Flash (lesbians 30+), and Hidden Hearts (social mingling). Venues rotate — check social media for locations
  • Bayou — WeHo gay bar that regularly hosts dyke nights for queer women
  • Various Pride-season events in June feature dedicated women's programming including the Dyke March and Women's Freedom Festival during WeHo Pride
