Part of the Gay Mexico City Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Mexico City, State of Mexico
San Rafael's well-known gay sauna, open daily from 6am in Mexico City.
San Rafael's working-man's sauna, and the one that locals will name-drop first when you ask. Finisterre has been the after-hours gay institution of central Mexico City for years — open at 6am seven days a week, hammam-style layout with showers, dry sauna, steam, and massage on offer, and a clientele that runs from twentysomethings to fortysomethings depending on the hour. Weekday afternoons are mellow and genuinely spa-like. The cruise scene kicks in Saturday and Sunday mornings, when the late-night Zona Rosa and Insurgentes crowd rolls over at sunrise and the steam room fills up fast. Don't expect the polish of a new Zona Rosa bathhouse — this is older, plainer, busier, and the appeal is exactly that. Bring small bills for towel rental and tipping.
