Mexico City, State of Mexico
An old-school Centro Histórico bathhouse that has quietly run a mixed-but-cruisy scene for decades, hidden behind a plain doorway on Isabel La Católica next to the Claustro de Sor Juana. Officially this is a legitimate Mexican baño público — steam, sauna, Turkish bath, barbershop, even pedicures — and plenty of regulars genuinely come for the spa. The gay cruise scene runs in parallel, mostly in the private rooms, which come with flat-screen TVs, plush sheets, and the freedom to bring in beer or a guest. General admission gets you the communal steam and sauna; the private suite is where things get social. Cleanliness is the house pride, which sets it apart from a lot of the city's older saunas. Mornings are quietest, late afternoons the busiest, and the historic-center location makes it an easy detour off a walking day. Not to be confused with the closed Cabinas Isabel Católica on José María Izazaga — different street, different venue.
