Barceloneta is Barcelona's most central public beach, situated within walking distance of the Gothic Quarter and Eixample. While the city's primary designated gay beach, Mar Bella, is located further north, Barceloneta features a long-standing LGBTQ+ popular sunbathing section on the sand directly fronting the W Hotel. The beach is fully public with no entrance fees, sits adjacent to a wide boardwalk lined with outdoor chiringuito bars, and draws a heavy mix of international tourists, locals, and beach paddleball players.
