The room is lived-in and unpretentious: vintage sewing-machine tables, mismatched French chairs, old Italian lamps, a relaxed terrace, and a dog-friendly door. The kitchen does traditional tapas like empanadas and albóndigas alongside flavored mojitos and classic cocktails the regulars rate highly. After more than four decades it remains a low-key, homey counterpoint to the louder bars around it — the place you go in Eixample to actually hear the person across the table, whether you're a local or just want a calmer night in the gay district.
