Mexico City, Mexico
Weekly Thursday queer alt-pop party in Condesa.
Mexico City's premier queer alt-pop party, held weekly on Thursday nights in the heart of Condesa. Founded in 2017 by promoter Juanjo Gallo and co-founder Jorge Rodriguez, Bonbon was born out of a desire for an LGBTQ+ space that broke away from the American Top 40 playlists dominating Zona Rosa's gay bars — think Charli XCX, The Knife, Gossip, and Rihanna instead. The name is Mexican slang for "cutie," and the vibe matches: intimate, fashion-forward, and unapologetically queer, with themed nights, drag performances, glitzy decor (including a now-legendary pink disco ball), and a mixed crowd of locals, expats, and international visitors. Resident DJ and author Dave Brennan keeps the dance floor packed well past midnight. It's small, it's sweaty, it gets crowded — and that's exactly the point. Doors open at 11 PM, but like most of CDMX, the real energy doesn't hit until after midnight. Check their Instagram (@bonboncondesa) for upcoming themes and occasional pop-up events at other venues around the city.
