Bourbon Street Pub is the anchor of Key West's gay nightlife, a New Orleans-themed entertainment complex on Duval Street that opened in 1995. The front is a high-energy video and dance bar with the Men of Bourbon go-go revue performing nightly across its five bars and second-floor balcony; out back is a 24-hour clothing-optional garden bar with a pool and jacuzzi reserved for men. It's the historic home of the Red Shoe Drop, the New Year's Eve tradition running since 1996 where a drag queen descends from a giant red high heel over the crowd on Duval at midnight. The pub doesn't operate alone. It sits at the center of a cluster of queer-owned businesses on this block, including the 801 Bourbon Bar cabaret, Saloon 1, and the New Orleans House guesthouse upstairs. For visiting gay men it's effectively the gravitational center of the scene, the place a night on Duval tends to start or end.
