Part of the Gay Mexico City Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Mexico City, State of Mexico
One of Centro's last XXX cinemas — gay cruising in the balcony
One of the few surviving XXX cinemas of mid-century Centro Histórico, a few blocks from Bellas Artes on República de Chile. The building still runs two screens with different programming — one straight, one gay — and the gay scene happens mostly in the balcony, the back rows, and the second-floor corridors and bathrooms. The crowd skews older and local, and the vibe is unmistakably worn-in: faded seats, low light, a faintly perfumed lobby, the projector still running 35mm-era porn on a loop. Open daily roughly 10am to early evening, with a small cover at the door. There's no website, no social media, no schedule — just walk up, pay, go in. It's a relic of a Mexico City that's mostly gone, and it functions for what it is: cheap, anonymous, and quietly cruisy. Discreet attire is expected; security has been known to turn people away for looking too obvious.
