Phoenix, Arizona
7th Street cocktail and drag show bar running since 1977.
Cruisin' 7th is one of Phoenix's longest-running gay bars, a cocktail lounge and show bar on North 7th Street. Its roots go back to 1977, when it opened as Cruisin' Central just north of Roosevelt and Central with an alley entrance; it took its current name and 7th Street location in 2003 under owners Lynn and Mike McGarry. The drag shows are the calling card, spelled out right on the building. Nightly entertainment rotates through drag, male dance revues, karaoke, and comedy, and daily drink specials keep it accessible. It's been named Best Gay Bar by Phoenix New Times and has long been a second home for the city's gay and trans communities. One quirk worth knowing: it opens famously early, well before most bars in town, so it's an option when the rest of the scene is still asleep.
