Columbus, Ohio
Central Ohio's LGBTQ+ professional theatre company since 2008.
Central Ohio's only professional LGBTQ+ theater company, founded in 2008 and operating under an Actors' Equity Association agreement. Evolution produces plays, musicals, and cabaret — from Tony-winning works like The Inheritance and Fun Home to world premieres by emerging playwrights. The company performs primarily at the Abbey Theater of Dublin and other Columbus-area venues. The programming centers LGBTQ+ stories without limiting itself to a single genre. Recent seasons have ranged from Kinky Boots to intimate dramas like From White Plains. Evolution has earned consistent coverage from Columbus Underground and is backed by the Ohio Arts Council and Dublin Arts Council — institutional credibility that matches its 17-year track record.
