Cleveland, Ohio
Ohio's oldest continuously running gay bar on St Clair Ave, since 1970
Operating since January 1970, the Leather Stallion Saloon is Ohio's oldest continuously running gay bar, founded by Al Brighton as a private levi/leather membership club for Cleveland's underground kink scene. Known to regulars over the years as the 'Leather Feather' and the 'Plastic Pony,' it remains a home base for the city's leather, bear, and motorcycle-club communities, with wood-paneled walls, pool tables, a dance floor, and a private outdoor patio that hosts Sunday afternoon cookouts. Membership and dress rules that once kept it men-only have relaxed across the decades, and the door is open to all genders today, though the heritage stays front and center. Programming runs to underwear parties, puppy-play nights, Kinky Karaoke, and trivia, with strong drinks and no cover. It's a genuine piece of Cleveland LGBTQ+ history that still functions as a working neighborhood leather bar, not a museum.
