Part of the Gay Provincetown Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Provincetown, Massachusetts
Dark, cruisy leather and Levi bar inside the historic A-House.
The Macho Bar is Provincetown's dedicated leather and Levi bar, tucked inside the Atlantic House, a building dating to 1798 and one of the oldest gay bars in the country. It runs dark and cruisy, with IML posters and Tom of Finland art on the walls and a crowd that leans masculine: leather men, bears, and guys in denim. Unlike most of P-town's seasonal rooms, the Macho Bar stays open year-round, one of the few spots that doesn't shut down after summer, with doors typically opening late in the evening. During Bear Week in July it becomes ground zero for the bear community, with registration pickup on the A-House porch. It's the town's reliable answer for anyone after the leather-and-Levi end of the scene rather than the dance-floor crowd.
