Part of the Gay Provincetown Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Provincetown, Massachusetts
Year-round porch lounge at the historic Gifford House.
The Porch Bar sits on the second floor of the Gifford House, a gay-owned Provincetown inn that's been a Carver Street landmark since 1858. Its signature is the wraparound outdoor porch; inside there's a fireplace room, a pool table, and a small dance floor, making it the relaxed, conversational alternative to the town's high-energy clubs. It pours year-round, one of the few P-town bars that doesn't go dark in the off-season. It's part of the larger Gifford House complex, which also houses the basement leather club Purgatory and a lounge with live entertainment in summer. Recent ownership has refreshed the space while keeping its role as a steady social anchor for locals. It's the spot to start an easy evening before the night turns up downstairs or down the street.
