Kansas City, Missouri
Gay nightclub and drag venue on KC's 39th Street corridor since 1994
Missie B's is a gay-owned drag and cabaret club on Kansas City's 39th Street corridor in Midtown, open since April 1994. It runs entertainment seven nights a week across a two-story complex: a main-floor cabaret stage downstairs and an upstairs dance floor with an LED video wall, plus a heated tiki lounge. The Progress Pride crosswalk out front marks this stretch as the heart of KC's gay nightlife. The resident cast includes longtime performers Dirty Dorothy and Daisy Buckët, along with Lana Luxx, a full-time drag performer and trans activist The Pitch named to its Best of KC 2025 list. Mondays lean cabaret, Tuesdays and Thursdays are karaoke, and weekends pack the dance floor after the shows. One detail that says a lot about the place: founder Mike Burnes started free Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for community members without family — a tradition that predates the bar itself.
