Part of the Gay Kansas City Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Kansas City, Missouri
Kansas City's country-western gay bar on Main Street in Midtown since 1990
Side Kicks Saloon is Kansas City's country-western gay bar, serving the Midtown community on Main Street since 1990. It's the city's main destination for LGBTQ+ line dancing and two-stepping, with a wood dance floor and an updated outdoor patio, and it leans proudly into cash-only dive-bar territory: cheap, strong drinks and zero pretense. The week mixes boots and drag — the Schatzie show on Thursdays, 'Butt Wiser' on Wednesdays, and a high-energy Latino night every Saturday. Side Kicks also hosts professional-level drag pageants, including Miss Gay City of Fountains America. Come for a two-step lesson early or a packed Saturday floor late; either way it's a different register from the Broadway and 39th Street clubs nearby.
