San Francisco, California
SoMa's flagship leather and fetish gear maker and shop since 1979.
Mr. S Leather has been manufacturing leather and fetish gear in SoMa since 1979, when Alan Selby and leatherworker Peter Jacklin opened their first shop on 7th Street. Everything sold here — harnesses, bondage gear, neoprene wear, sleepsacks — is designed and built on-site by their production team. They were the first fetish company to bring neoprene to the kink market, and the in-store Locker Room section covers sports fetish and underwear. The shop sits five minutes from Folsom Street at 385 8th Street, and it functions as much as a gathering point as a retail space. Every Folsom Fair weekend, Mr. S closes down the back alley for a two-day block party with DJs, bootblacks, and beer. Open daily noon to 7pm.
