Castro memorial to LGBTQ+ victims of Nazi persecution — 15 granite pylons.
Pink Triangle Park is a small triangular memorial in the Castro, across Market Street from Harvey Milk Plaza. Fifteen sierra-white granite pylons — arranged to form a larger triangle — honor the thousands of homosexual, bisexual, and transgender people persecuted and killed under Nazi Germany. Dedicated in December 2001, it is the first permanent, free-standing US memorial to the LGBTQ+ victims of the Holocaust, reclaiming the pink triangle from a badge of shame into a symbol of remembrance and resilience.
