Los Angeles, California
Silver Lake leather and fetish gear shop making its own since 1999.
Rough Trade is a leather and fetish gear shop in Silver Lake, on the Sunset Junction stretch of Sunset Blvd — one of LA's longtime gay commercial corridors. It opened in 1999 and has since added a second location in Palm Springs, on Arenas Road. What sets it apart from a standard adult shop is in-house manufacturing: alongside off-the-rack stock it produces its own custom and exclusive leather and neoprene gear, made in the USA. The floor stocks harnesses, chaps, neoprene, rubber, and accessories, plus brands like Tom of Finland, OxBalls, and Nasty Pig. During LA Leather Pride Week it hosts 'The Assembly,' a dress-code-enforced formal-leather event presented with BLUF and the California B&B Corps — a sign of how embedded the shop is in the city's leather community rather than just selling to it. For kit you can try on with people who know the gear, it's the LA anchor.
