Columbus, Ohio
Downtown lesbian bar and pizza spot, a community hub since 1993.
Slammers is a downtown Columbus lesbian bar and pizza kitchen that's anchored the city's queer-women community since 1993 — and as of today it's the only lesbian bar left in Ohio, one of roughly three dozen still operating in the entire country. Marcia Riley opened and ran it for nearly thirty years before handing it to her nephew in 2022, who has kept it largely as it was. It's as much a neighborhood living room as a nightspot: a rainbow mural on the side of the building, a patio you can often find by ear, billiards, live music, and a kitchen that turns out a genuinely good pizza. The crowd is women-leaning but mixed and all ages of adult. Come for a slice and a drink, stay for the regulars who treat the place like home.
