Queer-owned bar and kitchen in downtown Halifax, opened August 2024
Stardust is a queer-owned bar and kitchen that opened on Barrington Street in August 2024, part of the wave of LGBTQ+ rooms that brought dedicated queer nightlife back to Halifax after a multi-year gap. The front half runs as a full restaurant — locally sourced plates, clearly marked vegan options, the kind of place you can actually eat dinner — before the floor opens up later in the night for dancing. The programming is where its identity sits: Saturday drag brunches with a rotating cast of local kings and queens, Sunday-evening drag shows hosted by Diana B Tease, and karaoke, trivia, and music bingo filling out the week. It's the more food-and-daytime-friendly of Halifax's new queer spots, an easy first stop whether you're meeting friends for a meal or building toward a night out. The locals noticed too — it took Best New Bar in the Best of Halifax 2025 readers' poll.
