Relaxed Kemptown pub with a bear crowd and a big Thursday quiz
The Camelford Arms is a pub on Camelford Street, a side street off St James's Street running down towards the sea. It calls itself a community pub, and gay guides have long tagged it as the bar of choice for Brighton's bears and the men who like them, with a mixed, relaxed crowd that skews older. Thursday is the big night: a pub quiz with a £300 top prize that fills up, so bookings are recommended. There's live music on Sundays at 5pm, a Moroccan-style garden out back, a kitchen doing pub food most days, and dogs are welcome. Brighton Bear Weekend has held its Easter quiz fundraiser here.
