White Center’s first LGBTQ bar — lumberjack-themed, with a full kitchen.
The Lumber Yard Bar was White Center's first LGBTQ+ bar when Nathan Adams and Michale Farrar opened it in January 2018. The lumberjack theme runs through the room: sanded wood, log benches, and Edison bulbs wrapped in logs, built to feel like an extension of the owners' living room. A scratch kitchen turns out Southern-leaning bar food, a nod to Adams's Arkansas roots. In July 2021 an arson fire destroyed the original building, and a community fundraiser that raised around $100,000 helped fund the rebuild. The bar reopened in November 2022 directly across the street, now split between the main bar and an entertainment space called the Loading Dock. The weekly calendar runs Queeraoke on Wednesdays, first-Thursday showtune singalongs, and Sunday drag brunch. Esquire named it one of the 32 best gay bars in America.
