Part of the Gay Houston Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Houston, Texas
Houston's LGBTQ+ community and health center, serving since 1978.
Founded in 1978, the Montrose Center is one of the oldest LGBTQ+ service organizations in the South and the anchor nonprofit of Houston's gayborhood. Its programs span mental health and addiction counseling, HIV testing, anti-violence services, and gender-affirming care, delivered in both English and Spanish, with a 24/7 LGBTQ+ switchboard handling crisis calls. In 1990 it became one of the first behavioral health centers to receive Ryan White CARE Act funding. Its reach extends well past clinical services. The Center runs Hatch Youth, Houston's long-running social program for LGBTQ+ young people, and operates the Law Harrington Senior Living Center — 112 affordable apartments that stand as the largest LGBTQ-affirming senior housing community in the country. For a traveler it isn't a nightlife stop, but it's the institutional backbone of queer Houston and a first point of contact for anyone who needs support while in the city.
