Tropical Eixample gay bar with reggaeton DJs and Caribbean cocktails
The Moon Tropical is a Caribbean-themed gay cocktail bar on Carrer de Villarroel in the Eixample, a few steps from the Urgell metro and the original of the two The Moon bars, with a younger sister venue in Madrid's Chueca. Palm installations and neon set the backdrop for reggaetón- and salsa-heavy DJ sets that keep a small dance floor moving, and the drinks lean tropical, from passion-fruit mojitos to frozen daiquiris, poured by shirtless bartenders who are part of the show. The crowd is mostly gay men, a mix of locals and travelers, and the room follows a familiar arc: relaxed early on, standing-room and high-energy by midnight. It's a fun, unserious stop in the Gayxample, better for dancing close and ordering another round than for conversation. Good as a mid-night anchor when you want Latin music and warmth rather than techno, with the bigger clubs a short walk away when you're ready to move on.
