Part of the Gay Washington D.C. Guide — bars, events & things to do.
Washington D.C., Washington D.C.
A no-frills Logan Circle gay dive bar with drag and DJ nights.
Trade is a gay bar on the 14th Street corridor in Logan Circle, opened in 2015 by D.C. nightlife operator Ed Bailey, who also runs Number Nine a couple of blocks away. A 2025 expansion grew it from a single barroom into four connected spaces: the original bar, a much larger patio, a dedicated dance floor with its own stage and bar, and an underground room. It's an unpretentious, dressed-down counterpoint to the more polished bars nearby, with strong pours, a long daily happy hour, drag and DJ nights, and Drag Race viewings. Esquire named it one of the country's best gay bars in 2023. Start a night here before the dance floor fills, or come for the patio when the weather's good; it's central enough to anchor a crawl along 14th.
