Portland, Oregon
LGBTQ+ theater company at the Sanctuary on NE Sandy, since 1989.
Triangle Productions is one of the oldest LGBTQ+-identified theater companies in the country, founded in 1989 by Donald Horn after every Portland theater turned down his play about being a gay man during the AIDS crisis. He self-produced it, sold out, and has been staging provocative work ever since — over 300 productions across 36 seasons and counting. The company performs at The Sanctuary at Sandy Plaza on NE Sandy Boulevard, a 150-seat venue with a mainstage and a smaller Board Room Cabaret. The repertoire runs from LGBTQ+ canon (Hedwig, Bent) to original works tackling HIV, homophobia, and queer Oregon history. Recent milestones include an Off-Broadway run of "Make Me Gorgeous!" — 119 performances, with Lucille Lortel and Drama Desk nominations.
