Casual Gayborhood LGBTQ+ bar on Locust Street with big windows.
U Bar holds down the corner of 13th and Locust in the heart of Philadelphia's Gayborhood, in the space that for years operated as Uncles. It's the neighborhood's most Cheers-like gay bar: a center bar ringed with stools, a chatty cast of regulars, and floor-to-ceiling windows that make the busy corner outside half the entertainment. Strong, affordable pours and a rotating lineup of draft beers keep it unpretentious. The crowd skews local and low-key, which makes U Bar a natural first stop before the louder rooms a few blocks away — close enough to walk to 254, Voyeur, or Tavern on Camac when you're ready to move. In recent years the kitchen has come online too, so you can pair the people-watching with a cheesesteak eggroll or a barbecue sandwich. Worth it if you want conversation over a dance floor.
