Part of the Gay Saugatuck Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Saugatuck, Michigan
Hoffman Street dive known for Great Lakes perch since 1996.
A Saugatuck staple since 1996, Wally's is the kind of no-frills bar and grill where the food is surprisingly excellent and the vibe is pure small-town dive — in the best way. The star of the menu is the Great Lakes yellow perch, widely considered some of the best in Michigan, lightly battered and practically melting off the plate. The burgers are fresh (never frozen), the ribs fall off the bone, and the smoked whitefish dip and crab cakes are house recipes. The dog-friendly patio overlooks Kalamazoo Lake, there's live music on weekends, and the drinks are honest. It's loud, it's casual, and it's the spot locals keep coming back to year after year. They also participate in Michigan's Catch & Cook program — bring your charter fishing haul and they'll cook it up for you.
